Dream Job
I have been debating on what my dream job should be. I love to help out people, technology interests me, and I would want to make the environment a healthier place. So, right now my dream job is becoming an environmental engineer. Environmental engineers deal with the environment, water, air pollution, smog, deforestation, and analyze the effects of human behavior on the environment. They also try to find new technology to help the environment. There is a lot of math involved in engineering, but math is one of my strong subjects and I am sure I will accomplish my dream job. Slow and steady wins the race.
Reflection..
Maintaining my blog was rather easy at first but the second half was a little difficult. It was difficult because some of the blogs did not have a date that they were suppose to be due. If the blog entries did have a due date I would not procrastinate. The experience of having a blog was fun because I was able to express myself and say my opinion on subjects talked about in class. There was no part of the blog I did not like. I usually try to add some visual aid to help the reader understand and come up with a good title to catch the readers attention. This was much better than writing my thoughts on a piece of paper. The blog also made it seem more organized than if it was written.

Movie Review! :D
So, the movie that I am going to do a review on is called "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo", the director is David Fincher, the main characters are Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara. This was the first time I have watched this movie and it was one of the best movies I have watched. I was going to to do a movie review from a previous movie that I've watched but one of my best friend recommended me to watch this movie and it was a very great movie. I had seen the previews when it first came out and it looked really interesting, lots of drama, mystery and suspense and I enjoy these movies. The genre of this movie is drama, mystery and suspense. I believe that the most important message in this movie is that no ones personal information is ever safe and that there are hackers who can get easily access this information; this ties in with the privacy chapter from "What Matters In America". I love how there was a lot of suspense in this movie, some movies that I have seen, have a little bit of suspense and a lot of boring parts and this movie was interesting from the minute it started. The only negative aspects of the movie was the accents that the characters had. Whenever they would whisper, I was not able to understand what they would say and I had to repeat the part over and over again. This movie is absolutely not for minors to watch, because there are graphic sexual scenes in this movie. Besides that I would give the movie a thumbs-up x 100. Great movie for people who love suspense, drama, and mystery.

Funny Cartoon Analysis
I chose these two cartoon because I thought both are funny and they both relate to work. The first cartoon is about a man who is talking to his boss about resigning. The guy imagines how he wished he resigned but he is too afraid of his boss, and the bottom picture is how he really resigned and his boss just yelling at the guy.
The second cartoon is about a chicken who is too chicken to tell the boss he/she quits. So, the chicken is showing what people should do in order for them to get fired.
I find them both funny because the guy and the chicken are afraid of their boss and what the boss is going to say. People should not be afraid of their bosses especially when they're going to quit. I mean what else can go wrong?

Book Review! :D
The name of the book that I read is called Call Me by Your Name, by Andre Aciman, which was published in 2007 by Farrar, Straus and Giroux in New York and this book has 248 pages.
Every summer a seventeen year-old named Elio and his family stay at their hill-side mansion on the Italian Riviera. Elio’s father is a University Scholar and each summer a scholar from different parts of the world come to stay with Elio and his family for three months. This summer, a scholar named Oliver a twenty-four year old from the United States stayed for the summer to finish his book he has been writing. As soon as Oliver or the “muvi star” arrives, he is loved by everyone in town including Elio. At first when Oliver arrived, they both completely ignored each other. Elio just thought that Oliver would just stay at his house, work around the house and leave just like the others before him. During the summer weeks, their obsession for each other grew as well as their desire and romance. Their romance would last them a lifetime and they feared that they would never find intimacy like that again. After they both reveal their love and passion to each other, they have to keep their love a secret as to no one should find out. Elio is a brilliant seventeen year-old who has managed to keep his emotions to himself because he does not know how to act, think or express himself, but he is fragile once he opens up to Oliver. Oliver on the other hand is confident in whatever he does; which makes Elio insecure.
The elements that I liked from the book would be how Aciman would describe everything in detail, there was only a few pages with dialogue and by doing this, Aciman makes the reader use their imagination while reading this intriguing book. The character that I liked the best would be Elio because he is just so bipolar, sometimes he would love Oliver with a passion and other days despise and ignore him for being charming and witty. The author unfolds the story in the beginning by telling us that Elio has a thing for Oliver and Aciman gives detail on how their romance progresses every day. Throughout summer, Elio’s parents would give Oliver different nicknames like “il cauboi” the cowboy because of the manners he showed while eating dinner with them. One day, Oliver had his hair slick back so Elio’s mother gave him the nick name “la star” short for “la muvi star”. Also, the word “Later” is mention a lot throughout the book and Elio hated this word because it did not have any closure as in goodbye or ciao. “Later”, to Elio meant coming back soon and staying longer and Elio hated this word, but soon he realized it is just Oliver’s Americanism.
I enjoyed reading this book and for me to say that is really, really tough because I thought that this book was going to be boring but I can’t judge a book by its cover. I am glad I took the time to read this book because it has mystery, drama, and love. I also liked how much detail and emotion there was in every page of this book. I have read other books that just focus on detail and a bit of dialogue and those books were really boring and lost my interest right away, but this book was absolutely different. I can relate with this book because at first it can be difficult to show emotions to someone I liked but spending more time with the person made this different and now our relationship is sailing smoothly.
I would definitely recommend this book to others to read. This book was by far good and I enjoyed reading it. I will certainly read more books that are close to Call Me by Your Name or more books from Andre Aciman. I would tell the reader to read the book carefully and really understand the detail in the book because it all connects in the end. I would talk about how the author did an amazing job with this book and I hope he writes many more like this. I would give this book a thumbs up.

Americans Love to Work Longer?... Depends.
In class one day, we went over how Americans are happy if they work longer and in Europeans are happy when they hardly work and I thought to myself "I better move to Europe!" I think that it just depends on the person, I personally would not like to work longer hours if I am getting paid minimum wage. Working at minimum wage is so tough! This is why I am in college to get a great career that I love and get paid a lot. Now if I had my ideal career, I would not mind working long hours because I love doing my job and I would get paid more to accomplish the "American Dream", and of course when I get my vacation time, I will certainly enjoy spending time on an island just relaxing and having nothing to worry about.
Video Game Violence
There are some people who believe video game violence makes children violent but I think it only affects some kids whose mind is not mentally ready to separate reality from games. No children can run down to the store and buy a M rated video game but there are parents who do buy them those video games and if their child is violent it is the parents to blame for their poor parenting skills. When I was younger, my parents bought me video games that had some violence but that did not make me violent at all! The video games that I believe affected me the most were there race car driving ones because I sometimes drive like in the game.

PBS Culture Shock
It was not hard to making these decisions about the video game violence with my partner. We both agreed that the image that was shown to us could be on the homepage of the website. I have been playing violent video games since I was younger and none of those games have made me a violent person. Maybe certain people do react differently but it just depends on the person thought of mind while playing the games. In the end of the survey, it said that ~92% of people said yes to the image but ~7% of people said no, it should not. I would like to know what that 7% of people thought about the image.
I do believe that video games are a form of art, they are like fantasy games whether it uses guns or super powers it is made up. While doing the survey I did find certain images offensive. The one image I found offensive was the Andrea Mantegna's St. Sebastian, c. 1455-60. I think that violence should not be represented with a religion because it is wrong, but this is people’s opinion. None of the quotes given to me during the survey change by decision on if the image should be on the homepage. I think that violence in movies or video games are just a form to entertain people not to persuade people on being violent. As I was saying to my partner, I think racing games and movies made an impact on me more than violence games or movies.

Excuses, Excuses....
The cartoon on page 128 made me laugh on the excuses that Arnold tells people if they ask him is he's poor. The first two responses he does not say at all until Penelope asks if he's poor, but the other three I can imagine him telling them to people a multiple of times. Arnold is ashamed that he is poor and does not want all the white kids to notice. Even though white people think Indians get money from the government and are rich, but that is not the situation with Arnold and his family. Arnold makes a lot of excuses to people and I find it funny on all the lies he makes up, but in the end people will end up knowing the truth.
Funny Cartoon Analysis!
The cartoon I chose from the book "The Absolute True Diary of a Part-Time Indian" by Sherman Alexie was when Arnold threw his geometry book at his teacher Mr. P. The purpose for this cartoon is to show that Arnold is absolutely done with the fact that school in the reservation have no money to buy new book and teach new materials. This also shows that Arnold does not want to give up on his hope and he wants to succeed in life and learn new materials. I picked this cartoon because it was a good representation of how angry and frustrated Arnold was with the school and this made him realize that if he stays in the school at the reservation, all his hopes and dreams will be gone.
Privacy! Right or Wrong?
Privacy is a very interesting topic to talk about now a days. The one article that I liked was called "Privacy is Overrated" by David Plotz. Plotz wrote about how invasion of privacy can be a good thing but can also be bad. Some of the positives about invasion of privacy is that it saves people time in searching for what they need online, but negatives aspects would be identity theft. I was watching the news the other night and it said that Siri invades privacy of iPhone users and that it is bad but I mean if people buy that new iPhone with Siri, they should expect that they would not have any privacy. Every time someone uses Siri, Siri is sending information to Apple to correct faulty issues Siri might have. If people took their time to read the terms and conditions, maybe their privacy would not be invaded but most people just skip it all. I don't mind if Google or Apple is watching my every move, if I get the job done faster with good quality than I am all fore it.

Flavored Vodka?
The targeted audience for the Flavored Russian Vodka ad would be for people who can legally drink and want to try something new. When if first saw this ad it seemed like the two women are checking someone out. I think the type of magazine that this ad would be in would be a travel magazine because the Vodka is Russian. I do not think it's an effective ad because it doesn't make me want to run to BevMo and buy flavored Vodka. The ad would be more interesting if it had the different colored Vodka, because people like colors. The ad promotes lifestyles that are outgoing, fun, entertaining, and dangerous (in a good way). The ad implies that if people do not try new things, they will not know whether they like them or not.
What is Dolce & Gabbana selling? Guess!
I picked this ad because Dolce & Gabbana is a good brand for cologne that I own, so I can relate to the brand. In this ad, there is a young woman that is washing dishes and it looks like she has quite a few dishes to wash. She also looks surprised I don't know why. From this ad I cannot tell what Dolce & Gabbana is trying to sell to customers. I do know it might be clothes since there is a woman wearing a nice party dress. The only few things that I know that Dolce & Gabbana sell would be clothes or fragrances and this ad might be for that. If this ad did not have the name, I would be even more confused. Maybe they would be selling dishes, dish soap, clothes, curtains, or food? I would read this ad if it was in a magazine because I love Dolce & Gabbana, especially their colognes. Well maybe in some parts of the country it would be a bad thing to imply that women are second-hand citizens, but woman today have great jobs and can choose to be housewives or not.

Gotta Have 150 Friends?
In Robin Dunbar's essay, Gotta Have 150 Friends, he states that people can only "maintain" 150 friends on Facebook. To "maintain" 150 friends on Facebook means that the person has to know those 150 friends really well. But I even think that that 150 Friends is way too high! For someone to actually know everything about 150 people is impossible, unless they have no lives and that's all they do all day. People need to distinguish the difference between real close friendships and acquaintances. Recently I got an event request on Facebook from an acquaintance and she lost all her phone contacts and sent that event to over 1000 friends!!! I was like "There is no way in h*** that she can keep up with over 1000 friends!!!" I decided not to give her my number because we don't really talk. :)

Premier Blog (First Blog)
Well this is my very, very first blog and I hope people like it! My name is Benjamin G. and this is my first semester at the Santa Rosa Junior College. I am studying environmental engineering and after the J.C. I want to transfer to Cal Poly. In my first blog, I am going to be writing about a funny advertisement that I found online.
In this ad Slim Fast is being sold to women who are about to have their wedding. I think that if women drink enough Slim Fit they can get thinner and feel good about how they look. From the research I did about Slim Fit, it states that it is a "Healthy Ready to Eat Meal" that is 99% fat free, has 24 vitamins and minerals, and has only 220 calories. If women do not drink Slim Fit, they might just fall right through the floor just like the bride topping fell through the cake.
