Excuses, Excuses....
The cartoon on page 128 made me laugh on the excuses that Arnold tells people if they ask him is he's poor. The first two responses he does not say at all until Penelope asks if he's poor, but the other three I can imagine him telling them to people a multiple of times. Arnold is ashamed that he is poor and does not want all the white kids to notice. Even though white people think Indians get money from the government and are rich, but that is not the situation with Arnold and his family. Arnold makes a lot of excuses to people and I find it funny on all the lies he makes up, but in the end people will end up knowing the truth.
Funny Cartoon Analysis!
The cartoon I chose from the book "The Absolute True Diary of a Part-Time Indian" by Sherman Alexie was when Arnold threw his geometry book at his teacher Mr. P. The purpose for this cartoon is to show that Arnold is absolutely done with the fact that school in the reservation have no money to buy new book and teach new materials. This also shows that Arnold does not want to give up on his hope and he wants to succeed in life and learn new materials. I picked this cartoon because it was a good representation of how angry and frustrated Arnold was with the school and this made him realize that if he stays in the school at the reservation, all his hopes and dreams will be gone.
Privacy! Right or Wrong?
Privacy is a very interesting topic to talk about now a days. The one article that I liked was called "Privacy is Overrated" by David Plotz. Plotz wrote about how invasion of privacy can be a good thing but can also be bad. Some of the positives about invasion of privacy is that it saves people time in searching for what they need online, but negatives aspects would be identity theft. I was watching the news the other night and it said that Siri invades privacy of iPhone users and that it is bad but I mean if people buy that new iPhone with Siri, they should expect that they would not have any privacy. Every time someone uses Siri, Siri is sending information to Apple to correct faulty issues Siri might have. If people took their time to read the terms and conditions, maybe their privacy would not be invaded but most people just skip it all. I don't mind if Google or Apple is watching my every move, if I get the job done faster with good quality than I am all fore it.
